| INDICATIONS |
RTI, UTI, ENT, Skin and soft tissue, GI, Intraabdomlnal, gynaecological, bone and joint infection, severe systemic infections, gonorrhoea, prostatitis, enteric fever and ocular infection. |
| MODE OF ACTION |
Acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, which is required for DNA replication and thus causes bacterial lysis. |
| ONSET OF ACTION |
Within one hour. |
| DURATION OF ACTION |
8 to 12 Hrs. |
| ADVERSE EFFECT |
Nausea, epigastric distress, headache, vomiting, diar- rhoea, restlessness, abdominal pain, skin rash, insomnia, confusion, dizziness and arthralgia. |
| CONTRAINDICATION |
Hypersensitivity. |
| SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS |
Renal dysfunction, epilepsy. In geriatric patients, use with caution. |
| DRUG INTERACTIONS |
Antacid, antineoplastic drugs, caffeine, oral anticoagulants, cyclosporine, theophylline, NSAIDs, rifampicin, chloramphenicol. |
