DETAILS
|
| COMPOSITION |
Each spoonful (5gm.) contains Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (Guar Gum) 4.0 gm. Cephalandra indica (Tundika) 0.1 gm, Trigonella foenumgraecum (Methi) 0.6 gm. Gymnema sylvestre (meshasringi) 0.2 gm., excipients q.s. |
| INDICATIONS |
Hyperglycemia and Hypercholesterolemia. |
| MODE OF ACTION |
Guargum lowers the hyperglycemic states in diabetic patients. After oral administration, it leads to viscous gel formation in the intestine, which causes decreased carbohydrate absorption. Further, Guar has also been found to reduce increased serum cholesterol level. Guar causes an increase in faecal sterol excretion and simultaneous decrease in serum cholesterol level. Meshasringi reduces glycosuria in diabetic patients. Although conclusively not demonstrated, it possibly has an indirect action in stimulation of insulin secretin. TUNDlKA's antihyperglycemic action has clearly been recorded. The anti hyperglycemic and hypocholesterolemic activity of METHI have clearly been demonstrated in recent studies. |
| ADVERSE EFFECT |
Epigastric discomfort, nausea, anorexia, diarrhoea, flatulence. These effects, if appear, are generally transient and disappear in a few days time. The incidence of such effects may also be minimized by initiating the therapy with smaller doses & then increasing upto the recommended doses. |
