Talking about ourselves would really be a story of an enterprise, which from just a very meagre beginning could attain the forefront position in its sphere only through firmness of purpose, honesty of effort and sincerity of labour .
Our organisation Dey's Medical Stores (Manufacturing) Limited, also known as Dey's is today a well-reputed industrial undertaking of the country with it factories, two in the State of West Bengal and another in U.P. engaged in the manufacture of essential, vital and life-saving drugs for marketing and supply throughout this country as well as abroad.
The beginning of Dey's is fascinating. In 1941, Mr. B.N. Dey, the then Managing Director of our organisation, from a mere urge to serve the society, started a small retail medical store in Calcutta. Through his unique character -comprising high capabilities with honesty, soon he was able to gain the confidence of the medical profession including the stalwarts in the field. During the second world war, when the supply of essential drugs was uncertain and much hampered, Dey's came forward in the field of agency to ensure and maintain a steady supply of life-saving drugs and appliances to the medical profession, fighting troops and also to the ailing people of the country.
After independence, when it was desired that the country should be self-sufficient in the production of drugs and pharmaceuticals, Dey's again being encouraged by some medical stalwarts of the country came forward with an endeavour to start the manufacturing of formulations of vital and life-saving drugs in the country. Thus in 1957 Dey's took bold step to establish a manufacturing unit in the city of Calcutta its own indigenous know-how.  Subsequently, Dey's entered into an agreement with M/s. Sterling/Winthrop Products, U.S.A. also to process, package and distribute their products in India. Today this factory is one of the best in this country and may well be considered as a national pride. Various dosage forms of drugs - capsules, tablets, granules, powders, oral liquid, drops, injectules, transfusions, ointments etc. of all the important categories of medicines - antibiotics, corticosteroids, vitamins, sulfas, antituberculars, antidiabetics, antipyretics, analgesics, antiasthmatics, antihypertensives, antidysentery, antiinflammatory, replenishing agents, etc., are now manufactured here under direct supervision of experts in the field, using all the modern precision machineries under strict hygienic and aseptic conditions. Necessary automatic continuous processes are also followed in dehumidified and sterile areas thus eliminating the possibilities of human errors and contaminations. In the year 1971. Dey's opened a second manufacturing company at Naini, Allahabad, in the State of Uttar Pradesh. Today Dey's group has three factories at Calcutta and one at Allahabad.
